I'm Mykhailo Holovan, a Lead / Senior Gameplay Engineer working in Unreal Engine 5 and C++, based in Barcelona.
For more than 10 years, I’ve built and delivered complex systems across C++, Unreal Engine, multiplayer, client-server architecture, backend services, cross-platform software, and technical leadership. My career has moved naturally between game development and general software engineering, but the common thread is systems ownership: understanding an unclear problem, shaping the architecture, implementing the critical parts, and helping a multidisciplinary team deliver reliably.
My leadership style is practical and close to engineering. I clarify requirements, estimate and decompose work, guide architecture, manage technical risks, mentor engineers, coordinate across disciplines, and communicate with clients and stakeholders. I stay hands-on enough to understand the real constraints behind a decision and contribute directly when a project needs it.
I’ve shipped and supported production software for PlayStation, Xbox, and PC; designed multiplayer and backend integration; built automated concurrent-client validation; worked with C++, Java, Spring, REST APIs, PostgreSQL, and Redis; and led or coordinated multidisciplinary teams of up to 15 people.
Outside work, I’m developing an ongoing historical-car project as a personal after-work passion, with a focus on vehicle systems, physics, and simulation.
I'm looking for Senior or Lead gameplay, multiplayer or systems roles and am available now. Remote or Barcelona; I can work from Spain without sponsorship as an employee or B2B contractor, and I'm open to relocation for the right role.
